Fort Myers High School Senior Interns With Woodyard & Associates
Monday, September 8, 2008
Mark Dennis, a Fort Myers High School senior, is interning as an office assistant with Woodyard & Associates as part of the school’s Academy of Finance, a three-year program designed to prepare students for financial responsibility later in life.
“What I hope to gain from my experience at Woodyard & Associates is a better understanding of the business world and commercial real estate,” said Dennis, adding he chose an internship in real estate because it is such a vital part of the local economy.
Throughout the internship, Dennis will research commercial properties for the firm’s real estate agents and gain hands-on field experience by visiting listed properties.
Tom Woodyard, founder of Woodyard & Associates, said he became interested in the real estate market when he was young.
“I have had the privilege of making a career out of my interest. Seeing young people interested in what I do reminds me of my passion for the business,” he said.
Woodyard says he is open to accepting additional interns in the future, if position availability permits.
“I think everyone benefits,” said Woodyard. “It is a great opportunity for young people to learn about the business, and it’s good for all of the agents who get to help mentor a young person.”
